Method

How we check every directory

Every row below comes from a visit to that directory’s own site. Where we couldn’t verify something, the row says so.

Read the full method
  1. Step 1

    We open their own pages

    Homepage, submit page, pricing and guidelines, on the date shown on each row. Prices and rules come only from there, and each directory’s page lists the pages we opened.

  2. Step 2

    We read a live listing’s link

    We find a product that’s already listed and read the rel attribute on its outbound link. No rel means dofollow; nofollow, ugc or sponsored pass little or no ranking value. No listing to inspect means “Unverified”.

  3. Step 3

    We add DR and popularity

    DR is Domain Rating by Ahrefs, pulled from Ahrefs’ free API: a 0–100 score of the site’s backlinks. Tranco, a research top-sites ranking, adds popularity: lower is more visited. Neither is a Google metric.

How we check each directory

What “checked” means

We opened the directory’s own pages (homepage, submit page, pricing, FAQ or guidelines) on the date shown and recorded what they said. Each directory page lists the exact pages we opened. Summaries and tips are written in our own words. If we couldn’t confirm something, the page says so instead of guessing.

How link types are verified

Where we could, we opened a live listing and inspected the outbound link to the listed product: no rel attribute means followed (dofollow), rel="nofollow", "ugc" or "sponsored" means it passes little or no ranking value. When we couldn’t find a listing to inspect, the link type is marked “Unverified”. Directories can change this at any time, so check your own listing once it’s live.

What DR is

DR is Domain Rating by Ahrefs: Ahrefs’ 0–100, logarithmic score of how strong a site’s backlink profile is compared with every other site Ahrefs crawls. We fetch it from Ahrefs’ free API for each directory’s own domain and refresh it regularly; the directory page shows when. It measures links, not visitors or relevance, and it isn’t a Google ranking factor. Directories hosted on a shared platform (a GitHub list, a subreddit, a Medium or Notion page) show no DR, because the platform’s number says nothing about that one list.

What the Tranco rank is

Tranco is a top-sites ranking made for research. It combines several public top-sites lists over 30 days, which makes it harder to manipulate than any single list. Lower is more popular: #1,000 is far more visited than #500,000. It’s a rough popularity signal, not a backlink metric. “Unranked” means we have no rank for that site.

Pricing

Prices come only from the directory’s own site on the day we checked. We don’t take prices from other lists. Prices change, so confirm on the submit page before you pay.

Why some pages are thinner

Some directories publish very little about how they work. A directory page is only offered to search engines when it has a real summary (120+ characters) and at least 2 verified facts such as link type, pricing details, tips or a Tranco rank. The rest stay visible here but aren’t indexed.

We don’t sell placement

Directories don’t pay to be listed or ranked here. The default order is by Tranco rank, then name; you can also sort by highest DR.
