Directories with human review: 357 that check every listing

Directories that review every submission by hand are slower and harder to get into, and that’s the point. A human reviewer keeps out spam, duplicates and unfinished products, which makes the directory more useful to visitors and a listing on it more meaningful to search engines. Expect queues from a few days to several weeks, and expect some to turn you down. The most common reasons are a site that isn’t live or looks unfinished, a description that reads like an ad, the wrong category, or a product outside the directory’s focus. Read each directory’s guidelines before you submit, write the description for its readers, and make sure your homepage explains the product in one screen. If you are rejected, fix the reason given and ask whether you can resubmit rather than creating a new account.

The other 337, in the same order

One line each. Open a directory for its price details, link evidence, review process and how to submit.

DR is Domain Rating by Ahrefs: a 0–100 score of a site’s backlinks, higher is stronger. It isn’t a Google metric. Tranco rank is a research top-sites ranking: lower means more popular. How we check each directory

How to prioritise

  1. Reviewed directories in your niche, where acceptance is likely and the audience fits.
  2. Reviewed directories with a verified dofollow link.
  3. Big general reviewed directories last: stricter, slower, but worth it once your site is polished.

Questions about this list

How long does manual review take?

It varies from a day to several weeks, depending on the directory and its queue. Some sell a faster review. Submit to reviewed directories early rather than on launch day.

Why do reviewed directories reject submissions?

Usually because the site isn’t live, looks unfinished, doesn’t match the directory’s focus, or the description reads like an ad. Fix the reason you’re given and ask whether you can resubmit.

Are reviewed directories better for SEO?

Generally, a directory that turns down low-quality sites is a better neighbourhood for your link than one that accepts everything. Check the link type too: reviewed directories can still use nofollow.

Which of these directories give a dofollow link?

208 of the 357 had a followed (dofollow) listing link when we checked: GitHub Marketplace, Flathub, F-Droid, AlternativeTo, There's An AI For That, MacUpdate and 202 more. Directories change their link policy, so check your own listing once it is live.
