Startup databases investors and press read: 43 to join
Startup databases are less about customers and more about being findable by investors, journalists, accelerators, partners and job seekers. They hold company profiles: founders, founding year, location, funding, team size and what you do. Many investors and programme organisers search them to build lists, so a missing or wrong profile can mean you are simply not on a shortlist. Some databases let you claim and edit your own profile for free; others are built from public data and take corrections. Regional ecosystems often run their own databases and only list companies from that country or region. Keep the facts consistent everywhere, because these sites cross-check and scrape each other. Only share funding figures you have made public, and update the profile when something changes.

Questions about this list
Do I need to be funded to be in a startup database?
No. Most accept bootstrapped and pre-seed companies. Fill in the fields that are true for you and leave funding blank if you haven’t raised or don’t share it.
Should I claim a profile someone else created?
Yes. Many profiles are created from public data and can be wrong or stale. Claiming lets you correct founders, location and description, which other sites often copy.
Do startup databases bring customers?
Rarely directly. They help investors, press, partners and candidates find accurate information about you, which matters most when you are raising, hiring or entering a new market.
