Developer newsletters that feature tools: 21 to pitch
Developer newsletters are usually written by one editor or a small team who read a lot and pick a few links each week for a specific audience: Python developers, Android developers, front-end engineers, SREs. That focus is what makes them valuable for a dev tool, library or open-source project, and it’s also why a generic pitch fails. Editors link to things their readers can use or learn from: a well-written release post, a tutorial that solves a real problem, a new library with good docs. A link to your homepage rarely makes it in. Most accept suggestions through a form, email or a community submission page, and many also sell a sponsored slot clearly marked as such. Pick the newsletters for your language or stack, and send them something worth reading.

FreeDofollowChecked
DR is Domain Rating by Ahrefs: a 0–100 score of a site’s backlinks, higher is stronger. It isn’t a Google metric. Tranco rank is a research top-sites ranking: lower means more popular. How we check each directory
How to prioritise
- Newsletters for your exact language, framework or discipline.
- Send a useful article, release post or tutorial, not a homepage link.
- Consider a sponsored slot only in the one or two newsletters your users read most.
Questions about this list
What should I send a developer newsletter editor?
A link to something useful on its own: a technical post, a tutorial, a benchmark with its method, or a release with clear notes. Add one line on why their readers would care. Editors skip pure product announcements.
Do developer newsletters feature open-source projects?
Many do, especially new libraries and tools for their stack. A clear README, a working example and recent activity make a project much more likely to be picked.
Are sponsored slots in developer newsletters worth it?
They can be, because the audience is narrow and technical. Test one issue with a tracked link to a docs or quick-start page, since developers click through to try things, not to read a sales page.
Which of these directories give a dofollow link?
18 of the 21 had a followed (dofollow) listing link when we checked: Laravel News, Changelog News, JavaScript Weekly, This Week in Rust, Android Weekly, CSS Weekly and 12 more. Directories change their link policy, so check your own listing once it is live.
