Where indie hackers can submit: 54 directories
Indie hackers have more time than money, so the best directories for them are free or cheap, quick to submit to and read by other makers and early adopters. Many maker communities and launch platforms sit here, along with lists of side projects and bootstrapped products. The audience is friendly but busy: they respond to a clear problem, a personal story and an honest price. Building in public helps; linking to your updates or revenue page gives people a reason to follow along. Be wary of paid “boost” options and badge swaps offered by smaller sites. A few can be worth it, but most of your time is better spent on the directories with real traffic and on replying to every comment on launch day. Submit in batches and track which listings send sign-ups.

Which directories are worth it for a solo founder with no budget?
Start with the free ones that have a Tranco rank and a real community, and those with manual review. The list above shows pricing and link type for each, so you can sort out paid-only sites quickly.
Should I pay to skip a directory’s queue?
Rarely at the start. A skip-the-line fee buys time, not quality. If the free queue is weeks long, submit early and keep building; pay only where you know the audience converts for you.
Should I add a directory’s badge to my site?
Only if you are happy to. Some sites require a badge for a followed link. One or two are fine; a footer full of badges looks like a link exchange, which Google’s spam policies warn about.
