Semrush pricing in 2026: every plan, the add-ons, and whether it's worth it
Prices checked . Semrush's pricing FAQ says all prices are in US dollars. Plans change, so check Semrush’s own page before you buy.
Short answer
Semrush's entry SEO plan costs $139 a month, or $117.33 a month if you pay for the year up front. The plan that adds AI-answer tracking is Starter at $199 a month ($165.17 billed yearly). Pro+ is $299 ($248.17 yearly) and Advanced is $549 ($455.67 yearly). Every plan includes one user.
Extra users start at $45 a month, and the Local, Content, Traffic & Market, Social, Advertising and AI PR toolkits are sold separately. A free plan (10 reports a day) and a 7-day trial are the cheap ways to look first.

- Every plan includes one user. Extra users start at $45 a month and the price rises with the plan tier.
- Yearly billing is paid for the whole year up front. Semrush says it saves up to 17%.
- Looking for Semrush Pro, Guru or Business? Those names no longer appear on Semrush's pricing page. On 8 October 2026 the SEO plans were SEO, Starter, Pro+ and Advanced, and we couldn't confirm how old plans map to the new ones, so check your account if you're on one.
- Semrush's own pages disagree on the SEO plan's AI features: the pricing card marks AI-search tracking, sentiment and custom prompts as not included, while its help article lists limited AI reports. Either way, there's no tracked-prompt quota below Starter.
What changes the real price
The plan price is rarely the whole bill. These are the extras Semrush lists on its pricing pages, with the billing term it showed.

AI Visibility toolkit (standalone)

Tracks 25 custom prompts daily, 1 domain for brand performance and 300 reports a day across ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini and Perplexity. No free trial, only a demo report.

Local toolkit
$30 (Base) or $60 (Pro) per location a month, billed annually
Google Business Profile automation and review replies; Pro adds listing management. Map Rank Tracker credits: 375 on Base, 1,225 on Pro.
Social toolkit

Base: 5 profiles and 50 scheduled posts a month. Pro: 10 profiles and unlimited posts. Business adds influencer analytics and media monitoring.

$99 (Base) or $220 (Pro) a month, billed annually
Ad research and campaign launch tools; Pro adds AdClarity for competitors' display, video and social ads.
AI PR toolkit
$149 / $279 / $499 a month (Base / Pro / Business), billed annually
Media database, pitching, monitoring and email analytics. The tiers differ in contacts, monitoring and competitor tracking.

Base Report $10, Pro Report $20 (white-label, 20+ integrations). The Agency Partners listing is $90 a month.
Free plan, trial, refunds and cancelling
- Free plan
- Yes, with no card. It gives you 1 demo project and 10 reports a day across the main tools, plus a limited set of AI visibility features. Semrush's pricing FAQ adds that a free account tracks 10 keywords in Position Tracking and monitors one website.
- Free trial
- 7 days on the SEO + AI Search plans and on the Traffic & Market, Local, Content, Social, Advertising and AI PR toolkits, once per toolkit and account. A card is required: Semrush charges a small amount to check it, refunds that at once, and bills the plan when the trial ends unless you cancel first. Exports are switched off during a trial. The pricing page shows a trial button on SEO, Starter and Pro+ but not on Advanced, though Semrush's help article says every plan has one. The AI Visibility toolkit has no trial, only a demo report. Semrush also says that if you've had a trial or paid subscription for any toolkit before, you aren't eligible for a free SEO or Traffic & Market trial.
- Refunds
- A one-time 7-day money-back guarantee, only on the first purchase of a plan with a term of 12 months or more (and on first add-on purchases). Month-to-month subscriptions aren't refundable. You must ask in writing within 7 calendar days of the order. Semrush's policy was last updated on 20 August 2025.
- Cancelling
- You can cancel any time. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the term you've paid for. If you start with a trial, the first payment is charged automatically when it ends unless you cancel before then.
- Billing
- Yearly billing is one payment for the whole year, not 12 payments, and Semrush says it saves up to 17%. Cards accepted include Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express and UnionPay.
Is Semrush worth it for a startup or small business?
Our read: Probably not on day one. Semrush is a research and tracking tool, so it pays back only if someone uses the data every week. If nobody will, the free plan, Search Console and a few free tools cover a new site's first months.
Worth paying for if
- You research keywords and competitors every week, or you do it for clients. Daily tracking of 500 keywords (1,500 on Pro+) is the main thing the money buys.
- You want AI-answer tracking in the same tool as classic SEO. Starter and above track 50 to 200 prompts a day.
- You run several sites: 5 on SEO and Starter, 15 on Pro+, 40 on Advanced.
Skip it, or wait, if
- You publish a few posts a month on one site. Google Search Console is free and shows your real clicks, impressions and positions.
- You need a keyword check now and then. The free plan allows 10 reports a day, and free tools cover single lookups.
- You only want AI-answer tracking. The SEO plan has none, and the standalone AI Visibility toolkit is $99 a month per domain, billed annually.
What it costs in practice: Two people on Starter pay $199 a month plus at least $45 for the second user: $244 or more on monthly billing. Billed yearly, the plan itself drops to $165.17 a month, but the whole year is due up front.
Cheaper options and alternatives to Semrush
Free ways to get part of the answer
Our free tools, and a guide where there’s no tool, with what each does and doesn’t replace.
Keyword difficulty checkerFree tool
Covers a quick keyword lookup: difficulty (0 to 100), monthly searches, CPC and intent for up to 20 keywords by country. Its difficulty score isn't on Semrush's scale, so compare keywords within one tool.
Website traffic checkerFree tool
Covers a first look at a competitor's estimated Google organic traffic and top keywords, by country. Google search only, no channel mix, and a model rather than a measurement.
SERP checkerFree tool
Live Google results for a keyword, with the AI Overview, People Also Ask and other features around them. A spot check, not tracking.
Keyword rank checkerFree tool
Your position for up to 5 keywords. It doesn't keep history or track 500 keywords a day; for your own site, Search Console gives real positions free.
Website SEO checkerFree tool
A 16-check on-page score for one URL. It isn't a scheduled site-wide crawl like Site Audit.
AI visibility checkerFree tool
Puts 4 buyer questions to ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gemini and shows whether they name you. One check, not daily tracking of 50 to 200 prompts.
Free SEO growth planFree tool
The searches your site is missing, your page count and your first article ideas, for any website.
Other plans to price it against
Vendor prices read on the same day, from each vendor’s own pages.
$129/mo ($103.20 billed yearly). Tracks 2,000 keywords and 100 AI prompts a day, with unlimited research and a 14-day trial with no card. One manager seat.
$99/mo ($79 billed yearly). 3 sites, 300 keywords and 150 AI prompts checked weekly. Moz Starter is $49/mo for one site.
Lite is $129/mo and tracks 750 keywords weekly. Starter is $29/mo for light use, and Ahrefs Free covers sites you own.
The wider shortlist, including low-cost suites we haven't priced here.
Where LaunchRanked fits
Autopilot ($49/mo at the founding price for the first 100 customers, then $99/mo) isn't a Semrush alternative. It gives you no keyword database or competitor research to browse. It does the work that comes after research:
- Writes and publishes up to 30 checked articles a month to your CMS, at a pace set by your domain's age.
- Rewrites titles and snippets on pages already ranking on page 1–2 that people don't click, applied after you approve.
- Tracks 25 prompts across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude (not Google AI Overviews).
- Emails a results report every Monday.
If your plan is "publish steadily and fix what already ranks", that's the cheaper first purchase, and it starts with a 7-day free trial. If you need to study competitors' keywords and links, you need a research tool like the ones above. We sell Autopilot, so weigh this section accordingly.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Semrush cost per month?
As of 8 October 2026, Semrush lists SEO at $139, Starter at $199, Pro+ at $299 and Advanced at $549 a month on monthly billing. Paying yearly brings them to $117.33, $165.17, $248.17 and $455.67 a month (Semrush says up to 17% less). Each plan includes one user. Extra users start at $45 a month, and toolkits such as Local, Content and Traffic & Market are priced separately. The older Pro, Guru and Business plan names no longer appear on Semrush's pricing page.
Is Semrush free?
There is a free plan with no card: 1 demo project and 10 reports a day across the main tools, plus a limited set of AI visibility features. The paid plans have a 7-day free trial that needs a card and has exports switched off. The standalone AI Visibility toolkit has no trial, only a demo report.
Does Semrush give refunds?
Only a one-time 7-day money-back guarantee on the first purchase of a plan with a term of 12 months or more, and on first add-on purchases. You must ask in writing within 7 calendar days. Month-to-month subscriptions aren't refundable. If you start with a free trial, Semrush charges the first payment automatically when it ends unless you cancel before.
Which Semrush plan includes AI search tracking?
Starter and above: 50 prompts tracked daily on Starter, 100 on Pro+ and 200 on Advanced, across Google, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini. The SEO plan has no tracked-prompt quota. The standalone AI Visibility toolkit is $99 a month per domain, billed annually, and tracks 25 custom prompts daily.
Is Semrush worth it for a small business or startup?
Only if someone will use it every week. It's a research and tracking tool: it doesn't write or publish anything. For a new site with a few posts a month, the free plan, Google Search Console and free tools cover the first months. Pay when you're doing weekly keyword and competitor research, or tracking hundreds of keywords daily.
What's a cheaper or free alternative to Semrush?
SE Ranking Core is $129 a month and tracks 2,000 keywords and 100 AI prompts a day. Moz Pro Standard is $99 a month, Ahrefs Lite $129 and Ahrefs Starter $29. For single lookups, free tools such as our keyword difficulty checker, SERP checker and website traffic checker cover one-off questions.

Read from Semrush's own pricing and help pages on 8 October 2026. The SEO + AI Search tab showed both monthly and yearly prices. The AI Visibility, Traffic & Market, Local, Content, Social, Advertising and AI PR tabs showed yearly billing only, so we haven't quoted their month-to-month prices. Yearly totals on this page are 12 times the per-month price Semrush shows, rounded.
