Ahrefs Webmaster Tools vs Google Search Console

Both are free for sites you can verify, and they answer different questions. Search Console is Google's own data: which queries you appeared for, how many clicks you got, your average position and how Google indexed each URL. Ahrefs Webmaster Tools, which Ahrefs now calls Ahrefs Free, adds a site audit and Ahrefs' own backlink and keyword estimates.

At the time of writing (September 2026), Ahrefs Free lets you verify unlimited sites, gives 5,000 crawl credits a month per project for Site Audit (170+ issue checks), and shows up to 1,000 backlinks and keywords at once in Site Explorer. It also includes cookieless web analytics with traffic from LLMs.
