Pinterest Pin title and description generator

Describe the Pin and the page it links to. Get five titles with the keywords in the first 40 characters, which is what feeds may show, and three descriptions.

Up to 10 generations a minute across our AI tools. Titles are checked against Pinterest's 100-character limit, descriptions against its 800.

Your Pin titles and descriptions appear here, each with its character count.

How to use it

  1. Describe what the Pin shows and what’s on the page it links to. The two should match.
  2. Add the words people type into Pinterest search to find something like it, such as “weekly meal plan” or “easy dinners for two”.
  3. Pick a title and a description. If you make several Pins for the same page, use a different pair on each instead of copying one.

Many guides still give 500 as the description limit. Pinterest’s ad specs and its API reference both say 800, so that’s the cap we check, though the model aims for 2 to 4 sentences. Pinterest’s ad specs also note that descriptions don’t appear when a Pin shows in the home or search feed, which is another reason the title carries the keywords.

Writing Pins people find

  • Keywords first in the title. “Weekly meal plan for two, under 30 minutes” puts the search words in the part feeds show.
  • Say what’s on the page. The description should tell someone what they’ll find when they click: the printable, the recipe, the guide.
  • Write sentences, not keyword lists. Two or three plain sentences can use the search words naturally.
  • Fill in the alt text too. The alt text generator writes it from the image itself.

Honest limits

The model can’t see your image or open the linked page, so it relies on your description; check that each title matches the Pin. It has no Pinterest search data, so it can’t tell you which phrase is searched most. Tag the link with the UTM builder to see which Pins send visitors.

Questions

What's the character limit for a Pinterest description?

800 characters, per Pinterest's ad specs and its API reference for creating Pins. You'll still see 500 quoted on other sites; Pinterest's own pages say 800. Our descriptions stay well under it.

How long should a Pin title be?

Up to 100 characters. Pinterest notes that depending on the device, only the first 40 may show in feeds, so the keywords go first. The results show the first 40 characters in black and the rest in grey.

Do Pinterest descriptions need hashtags?

We leave them out. Pinterest's help article on creating a Pin asks for a title, a description and a link. Keywords in plain sentences describe the Pin better than a row of tags.

Is what I type stored?

No. Your description goes to the model and the titles and descriptions come back to your browser. We don't save either.
