Product one-pager template
A one-pager is what a champion forwards internally or a partner skims before a call. It has to make sense without you in the room. Keep it to one page, lead with the problem in the reader's words, and end with a single next step.
Use it for
- Sales follow-ups and intros.
- Partner and investor conversations.
- Enterprise champions building an internal case.
Limits and rules
- Only include proof you can back up: real customers (with permission), real numbers, real certifications or their honest status.
The template
Copy it, then replace everything in [BRACKETS]. Delete lines that don't apply rather than leaving them vague.
[PRODUCT] - [ONE-LINE DESCRIPTION] THE PROBLEM [2-3 SENTENCES IN THE READER'S WORDS. WHO HAS IT, WHAT IT COSTS THEM.] WHAT [PRODUCT] DOES [2 SENTENCES.] HOW IT WORKS 1. [STEP] 2. [STEP] 3. [STEP] WHY IT'S DIFFERENT - [DIFFERENCE vs. CURRENT WORKAROUND] - [DIFFERENCE vs. MAIN ALTERNATIVE] PROOF [REAL CUSTOMER QUOTE OR RESULT, WITH PERMISSION - OR PILOT STATUS] INTEGRATIONS / REQUIREMENTS [LIST] SECURITY & DATA [HOSTING, ENCRYPTION, AUDIT STATUS - HONEST] PRICING [PLANS OR MODEL] NEXT STEP [ONE ACTION + CONTACT]
How to fill it in
THE PROBLEM
Use phrases from customer interviews.
WHY IT'S DIFFERENT
Compare with what they do today, not only competitors.
SECURITY & DATA
State status honestly: "SOC 2 Type I in progress" is fine.
Filled example
Fictional example. Paperlark is a fictional product we made up for these examples: an invoice-reminder tool for freelancers that sends polite follow-ups when a client pays late. Names, prices and details are invented to show the template filled in; they aren't a real company or real results.
Paperlark - polite reminders for late invoices THE PROBLEM Freelancers and small studios often wait weeks to get paid because chasing late invoices is awkward, so reminders get put off. WHAT PAPERLARK DOES Paperlark sends scheduled, polite reminders for unpaid invoices and stops the moment one is paid. HOW IT WORKS 1. Forward an invoice (or enter it by hand) 2. Choose a tone and schedule 3. Reminders go out from your reply-to until you mark it paid WHY IT'S DIFFERENT - vs. calendar reminders: the email actually gets sent - vs. invoicing tools' built-in reminders: works with any invoicing tool PROOF In pilot with 20 freelancers (fictional example). INTEGRATIONS / REQUIREMENTS Any invoicing tool that exports PDF. Stripe and QuickBooks planned. SECURITY & DATA Invoices encrypted at rest; data deleted 30 days after account closure. PRICING Free for 3 invoices/month; $9/month unlimited. NEXT STEP Try it at paperlark.example - sam@paperlark.example

FAQ
What should a product one-pager include?
The problem, what the product does, how it works, why it's different, proof, integrations, security, pricing and one next step.
Is a one-pager the same as a sales deck?
No. It's meant to be read without you presenting, and to be forwarded.
Should I put pricing on it?
At least a pricing model or starting price. Buyers stop reading when they can't find it.
