LinkedIn launch post template

LinkedIn rewards posts that read like a person talking, not a press release. The first two lines show before "see more", so they carry the whole post. This template leads with the problem you saw, then what you built, who it's for and one clear ask.

Use it for

  • Launching B2B or professional tools.
  • Announcing to your network and past colleagues.
  • Asking for introductions to first customers.

Limits and rules

  • LinkedIn posts can be up to 3,000 characters.[1]

The template

Copy it, then replace everything in [BRACKETS]. Delete lines that don't apply rather than leaving them vague.

[ONE-LINE OBSERVATION ABOUT THE PROBLEM - THE HOOK]
[SECOND LINE THAT MAKES PEOPLE CLICK "SEE MORE"]

[2-3 SHORT SENTENCES: WHERE YOU SAW THE PROBLEM, WHAT IT COST PEOPLE]

So I built [PRODUCT].

It [WHAT IT DOES] for [WHO IT'S FOR].
- [BENEFIT 1, CONCRETE]
- [BENEFIT 2, CONCRETE]
- [BENEFIT 3, CONCRETE]

It's live today. [PRICE / FREE TIER IN ONE LINE]

What I'd love from you: [ONE ASK - TRY IT, OR INTRODUCE ME TO SOMEONE WHO HAS THIS PROBLEM].

Link in the first comment.

How to fill it in

  1. [THE HOOK]

A specific observation, not "I'm excited to announce". People scroll past announcements.

  2. [WHO IT'S FOR]

A job title or situation your network recognizes.

  3. [ONE ASK]

One action. Two asks get neither.

Filled example

Fictional example. Paperlark is a fictional product we made up for these examples: an invoice-reminder tool for freelancers that sends polite follow-ups when a client pays late. Names, prices and details are invented to show the template filled in; they aren't a real company or real results.

Example (fictional product)
Every freelancer I know has an invoice that's 30 days overdue right now.
And most of them haven't sent the reminder email.

Not because they're disorganized. Because chasing money feels awkward, so it gets put off. That delay is money they've already earned.

So I built Paperlark.

It sends polite, scheduled reminders for late invoices, for freelancers and small studios.
- Set it once per invoice; it follows up for you
- Pick the tone: friendly, firm or final
- It stops the moment the invoice is marked paid

It's live today. Free for 3 invoices a month.

What I'd love from you: if you know a freelancer who's owed money, send them this.

Do

  • Write it like you'd say it.
  • Use short lines and white space.
  • Reply to comments for the first few hours.
  • Tag people only if they're genuinely involved.

Don't

  • Don't open with "I'm thrilled to announce".
  • Don't tag 20 people to get reach.
  • Don't paste the full feature list.
  • Don't use engagement bait like "comment YES".

FAQ

How long can a LinkedIn post be?

Up to 3,000 characters. Most launch posts work best well under that, with the hook in the first two lines.

Should the link go in the post or a comment?

Many founders put it in the first comment and say so in the post. Either way, make the ask clear.

Should I post from my personal or company page?

Personal. People respond to a founder explaining what they built and why.
