Directory listing description template (short and long)
Every directory and launch site asks for the same things in slightly different lengths. Write three versions once, keep them in a doc, and paste the right one. Vary the long version a little per site so you don't publish identical text on dozens of pages, and keep the facts identical everywhere.
Use it for
- Submitting to software and AI directories.
- Launch boards like Product Hunt and LaunchRanked.
- Store listings that ask for a summary.

How long should a directory description be?
Prepare three: a tagline under 60 characters, a short description under about 130, and a long one of 150–300 words.
Can I use the same description on every directory?
Keep the facts the same, but vary the long description so you're not publishing identical text everywhere.
Which directories should I submit to?
The ones your buyers use and the ones for your niche. See our directory list by niche, or have us submit for you.
