Picking a launch week
Weekly launch boards, LaunchRanked included, run on ISO weeks: Monday to Sunday, numbered 1 to 52 or 53. That’s why you’ll see ids like 2026-w39 rather than dates. A whole week gives you more room than a one-day launch: you can post in different places on different days, fix what people point out, and still be on the board when you share the update.
A few things make a week better or worse:
- Your own calendar first. Pick a week when you can spend most of your time replying, fixing and following up. Launch week is support week.
- Public holidays. If your audience is concentrated in one country, check its holidays for that week. Fewer people at work means fewer people reading.
- Lead time. Submit early. On LaunchRanked a human reviews every listing, and the current week takes new launches until Friday (UTC); from Saturday, new launches go into the next week.
How to use the checklist
The checklist starts two weeks before your launch Monday and runs through the weeks after. Every item is something you do, not something you ask others to do, and none of it involves asking for votes: Hacker News and Product Hunt both say not to, and people notice. The dates update when you change the week. Tick items off as you go; your progress stays in this browser.
- Two weeks out: submit, write the tagline and descriptions, prepare assets and tagged links.
- The week before: draft the launch post and maker comment, and read each community’s rules.
- Monday to Sunday: one channel a day, reply to everything, ship one fix you can point to.
- After: turn the launch into content that keeps working, and check Search Console a few weeks later.
Each step links the free tools that help, like the launch post generator and the UTM builder. When you’re ready, launch free: every approved launch gets a permanent product page and a followed link, with no badge required.
