Product Hunt vs Fazier for SEO: which link counts?
Product Hunt vs Fazier for SEO: the rel value on each listing link, what each free plan asks of you, paid links, review times and what lasts after launch.

Short answer: For SEO, Product Hunt and Fazier give you different things. Product Hunt's link to your site carries rel="ugc", so it passes little or no ranking credit. What Product Hunt gives you is a large audience for one day, and the links and mentions people write about you afterwards. Fazier's listing links were plain followed links on the pages we read, but its pricing only promises a backlink on paid plans, and the free plan asks you to link back to Fazier first. Use Product Hunt for attention. Use Fazier for a smaller daily audience. Pay Fazier for the exposure if you pay at all, not for the link.
This post compares the two on what matters for search: the link each listing gives you, what each free plan asks of you, how paid links fit Google's rules, how long review takes, and what's left a month after launch day. Every fact below comes from the platforms' own pages and Google's documentation, read on 25 October 2026. Both platforms change their rules often, so check again before you launch.
Product Hunt vs Fazier at a glance
| Product Hunt | Fazier | |
|---|---|---|
| Board | Daily, curated homepage | Daily ("Today", "Yesterday") |
| Cost to launch | Free ("100% free to use") | Free Basic; Lite $29, Premium $49, Super $99 (shown reduced from $39, $69 and $139) |
| What the free plan asks of you | A personal maker account; no link back | A backlink to Fazier on your homepage or footer (an embed badge) |
| Free review time | Reviewed before it appears; featuring is a separate decision | "Reviewed & listed within 30 days" |
| Link to your site on the listing | rel="noreferrer noopener ugc" |
No nofollow, ugc or sponsored on the four pages read |
| Followed link promised | None | Premium: guaranteed "DR 83+"; Super: "DR 83+" dofollow; Lite: top 3 daily products; Basic: none |
| Relaunching | At least two months between posts, with a significant update | Not covered on the submit page |
The rest of this post goes through each row and what it means for your rankings.
The link: ugc on Product Hunt, followed on Fazier
Product Hunt. On Notion's Product Hunt product page, opened on 25 October 2026, the "Visit website" button links to notion.so/?ref=producthunt with rel="noreferrer noopener ugc". Its other outbound links carry the same value. Our first check, in September 2026, found the same.
Google's guide to qualifying outbound links says ugc is for user-generated content such as comments and forum posts, and that "links marked with these rel attributes will generally not be followed." Product Hunt's listings are written by makers, so ugc is the honest label. For you it means the link is a hint at best, not a vote you can count on. Our dofollow vs nofollow guide explains what that does and doesn't mean.
Fazier. On four Fazier launch pages opened on 25 October 2026 (/launches/500toolbox, /launches/ai-plexis, /launches/ai-email-writer and /launches/ai-grammar-checker), both "Visit" buttons were plain links: rel="noreferrer" on one and rel="noopener" on the other. Neither carried nofollow, ugc or sponsored. Each page had <meta name="robots" content="index, follow"> and a canonical pointing to itself. So those were indexable pages with followed links to the product.
There's a catch. Fazier's submit page only promises a backlink on paid plans: "Guaranteed high-authority backlink (DR 83+)" on Premium, a "High-authority dofollow backlink (DR 83+)" on Super, and a "High-authority backlink for top 3 daily products" on Lite. The free Basic plan promises no backlink at all. Which plan those four products bought isn't shown. What a page carries today is not a guarantee of what yours will carry, or of what it will still carry next year.
What to do with this: after any launch, open your listing logged out and check the link yourself. Paste the URL into our dofollow checker, which lists every link on a page with its rel value, and confirm the page isn't set to noindex.
What each free plan asks of you
Product Hunt asks for a real person. Posting is free, and Product Hunt's launch page answers "Is Product Hunt free?" with "Yes. It's 100% free to use." You post from your own maker account: the same page says company accounts are prohibited. There's no link-back requirement.
Fazier asks for a link. Fazier's submit page says the free Basic plan requires "a backlink to our site" on your homepage or footer, and labels the plan "Free with embed badge". In return your product is "reviewed & listed within 30 days" and featured on the homepage "if selected". The paid plans drop the requirement: Lite and Super say "No backlink required", and Premium includes everything in Lite.
Why that matters for SEO: Google's spam policies list "excessive link exchanges ('Link to me and I'll link to you')" as link spam. They also list "requiring a link as part of a Terms of Service, contract, or similar arrangement without allowing a third-party content owner the choice of qualifying the outbound link." One badge on your site is very unlikely to hurt you on its own. The risk is the pattern. A platform that asks every free listing for a link back builds exactly the kind of pattern those policies describe, and the link you traded for may simply stop counting.
Fazier's submit page doesn't say whether a badge with rel="nofollow" meets the requirement. If you'd rather not pass ranking credit from your homepage, ask Fazier before you add it. Our badge backlink and reciprocal link entries explain the trade in more detail, and is backlink exchange safe? covers the wider question.
Paid plans and paid links
Posting on Product Hunt is free. Fazier sells three paid plans, with prices shown as discounts on 25 October 2026:
| Fazier plan | Price shown | What it lists |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | Free | Reviewed and listed within 30 days; backlink to Fazier required |
| Lite | $29 (from $39) | Publish now or schedule; backlink for top 3 daily products; homepage feature; permanent listing; social promotion |
| Premium | $49 (from $69) | Everything in Lite, plus 15 days of promotion across Fazier and a guaranteed DR 83+ backlink |
| Super | $99 (from $139) | Pinned as a sponsor at the top of the homepage for 15 days; DR 83+ dofollow backlink; permanent listing |
DR is Ahrefs' Domain Rating, a third-party estimate of a site's link profile. It isn't a Google metric, and it describes Fazier's domain, not the page your product sits on.
Be clear about what you're buying. Google's spam policies count "exchanging money for links, or posts that contain links" as link spam, and Google asks for paid placements to be marked rel="sponsored". A followed link sold as part of a plan fits that description, so you can't plan on its ranking value.
So judge a paid Fazier plan the way you'd judge an ad. Would 15 days of promotion and a homepage spot be worth $49 or $99 in visitors and signups alone? If yes, the link is a bonus. If you're only buying it for the link, spend the money elsewhere.
Review, featuring and timing
Product Hunt. Every post is reviewed, and the homepage is curated. Product Hunt's featuring guidelines look for products that are useful, novel, high craft or creative. They don't feature waitlisted products (unless people get immediate access), directories or lists, templates, boilerplates, podcasts, courses, reports, events, books, services, stores, deal sites and a few other types. A launch that isn't featured is still live, just with far less traffic.
The bigger constraint is relaunching. Product Hunt's relaunch rule (updated 21 October 2026) asks makers to wait at least two months between posts for the same product or from the same company, and to have a significant update, such as a new mobile app or a redesign with new functionality. New UIs and pricing changes don't count. Products on the same root domain share the two-month gap. You can request an earlier relaunch, and the team reviews it, but an approved relaunch isn't guaranteed a homepage spot. Our relaunch entry has the detail.
Fazier. The free plan can take up to 30 days to be reviewed and listed. Paid plans let you publish at once or schedule a date. Fazier's submit page doesn't mention a relaunch rule.
For SEO, timing matters less than people think. Neither platform's link will move your rankings in a week. What timing does decide is how many people see you, and whether anyone writes about you afterwards.
What lasts after launch day
This is where the SEO value really sits, on both platforms.
Your listing page. Both platforms give your product its own indexable URL. Product Hunt's product page (for example producthunt.com/products/notion) has a canonical pointing to itself. Fazier's launch pages had index, follow and self canonicals, and Lite and Super list a "permanent listing". These pages can rank for your brand name, which helps people who search for you find a second, independent page.
The links people write about you. A launch is a reason for someone to write about you: a newsletter roundup, a "tools I found this week" post, a review, a tweet that someone turns into a blog post. Those editorial links are the ones Google's guidelines are happy with, and Product Hunt's audience is usually the larger source of them. Our guide to getting backlinks for a new startup shows where launches fit next to directories, integrations and content.
Brand searches. If a launch makes people search for your name, that demand shows up in Search Console as queries you never had to target. Watch the Queries report for your brand name in the weeks after each launch.
Which one to use, and when
- Launch on Product Hunt for the audience. Prepare the listing a week ahead, and plan the day so people can try the product without a signup wall. Our Product Hunt launch guide covers the day hour by hour. Don't plan your SEO around its link.
- Use Fazier as a second daily board. On the free plan, decide first whether you're comfortable putting Fazier's badge on your homepage, and allow up to 30 days. If you pay, pay for the promotion.
- Spread launches out. Product Hunt's two-month rule means one good day beats two rushed ones. Our Product Hunt alternatives roundup lists other boards for the weeks in between, and TinyLaunch vs Fazier compares Fazier with another badge-gated board.
- Check every link you get. Open each listing logged out, check the
relvalue and the robots meta tag, and note the date. Rules change: Product Hunt updated its relaunch page on 21 October 2026. - Put the real effort into your own pages. A launch sends a few days of attention. The pages on your own site are what keep ranking after that.
Where LaunchRanked fits
LaunchRanked is a weekly launch board with a permanent product page. Every approved listing gets a plain followed link to your site, with no badge and no link back required. The badge is optional, and your link never depends on it. Our domain is new, so it carries far less authority than Fazier's or Product Hunt's. Treat it as one more honest listing, not a shortcut. You can launch free, or compare us with Fazier directly on LaunchRanked vs Fazier.
Frequently asked questions
Is a Product Hunt link dofollow?
No. On the Product Hunt product page we opened on 25 October 2026, the Visit website link carried rel="noreferrer noopener ugc". Google says links with ugc, sponsored or nofollow will generally not be followed, so treat a Product Hunt launch as audience, not a backlink.
Does Fazier give a dofollow backlink?
Fazier's pricing promises a guaranteed high-authority backlink (DR 83+) on Premium ($49), a DR 83+ dofollow backlink on Super ($99), and a backlink for the top 3 daily products on Lite ($29). The free Basic plan promises none. On four Fazier launch pages read on 25 October 2026, the Visit button had no nofollow, ugc or sponsored value, but check your own page after launch.
Does Fazier's free plan require a backlink?
Yes, as of 25 October 2026. Fazier's submit page says the free Basic plan requires a backlink to Fazier on your homepage or footer (it offers an embed badge) and that the product is reviewed and listed within 30 days. Paid plans say no backlink is required.
Should I launch on Product Hunt or Fazier first?
They do different jobs, so many founders use both. Product Hunt is free and brings the bigger audience for one day. Fazier is a smaller daily board where paid plans skip the wait and the link-back. Plan the Product Hunt day carefully, because a relaunch needs a two-month gap and a significant update.
Are paid backlinks from launch platforms safe?
Google's spam policies list exchanging money for links as link spam, and Google asks for paid placements to be marked rel="sponsored". So you can't count on a paid link's ranking value. Pay for a launch plan for the exposure, not for the link alone.
